📅 Save the date: 10–12 September 2025, Ghent University

The EELF annual conference is meant to be the major annual assembly of European Environmental Law scholars and practitioners. It provides a unique opportunity to meet colleagues from across Europe and to discuss topical issues of environmental law development and implementation. The conference combines plenary keynotes, parallel sessions and an attractive social programme.

The 12th Annual Conference of the European Environmental Law Forum (EELF) will take place from 10 to 12 September 2025, hosted by Ghent University. The central theme is climate adaptation and resilience.

With 2024 confirmed as the hottest year on record and global temperatures exceeding 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, Europe is increasingly facing extreme weather events like floods, droughts, and heatwaves. While reducing emissions remains essential, climate adaptation is now an urgent necessity. Legal frameworks will be key in guiding this transition, raising complex questions in fields such as environmental law, disaster law, urban planning, biodiversity, agriculture, and human rights.

The EELF 2025 Conference will explore how law can support this paradigm shift and foster effective, equitable, and resilient climate adaptation across the EU.
