BEDER recently took part in the 2025 FIDE Congress held in Katowice — a key event for the EU law community and an important milestone for our young association.

Represented by its co-president Cecilia Rizcallah and five board members —Stanislas Adam, Alexandre de Streel, Carinne Pochet, Piet Van Nuffel and Liesbet Van den Broeck — BEDER joined colleagues from across Europe for three days of rich academic exchanges and institutional dialogue. We were also honoured to reunite with one of our distinguished members, Koen Lenaerts, President of the Court of Justice of the European Union, whose continued presence at FIDE is a source of pride and inspiration.

This marked BEDER’s very first participation in a FIDE Congress, and a meaningful opportunity to engage with our sister associations, including the French FIDE France and Dutch sections, as well as with judges, scholars, and practitioners deeply involved in shaping the future of EU law.

BEDER was also proudly represented at Young FIDE, with Tom Buytaert selected to present his research — a strong signal of the vitality of Belgium’s emerging EU law scholarship.

We would like to thank the Polish Association of European Law its President Maciej Szpunar, and Secretary Krzysztof Pacuła for the remarkable organisation of this edition. The congress was impeccably coordinated and offered a warm and intellectually stimulating environment throughout.

📣 BEDER continues to grow as a vibrant hub for everyone with a connection to Belgium and a passion for EU law. Curious to learn more or interested in joining? Visit www.beder.be
